Palin and The Bush Doctrine
I couldn’t get this to post on a comment, and thought it was important. In case you missed it . . .
I agree with Ta-Nehisi Coates over at The Atlantic: "Forget about moose-hunting and pipelines. You simply can’t be a credible VP nominee and have no idea what the Bush doctrine is."
I guess this confirms that this candidate is "not ready for prime time." That was painful to watch!
Found a cool punk music video '911 for Peace' (by the American band Anti-Flag) yesterday and placed a prominent link to it on my homepage [sample lyrics "I don't wanna die, I don't wanna kill – We are all human, let's start to prove it!']
Here is the direct link:

I'm a big Keith Oberman fan – so I don't think I miss much when it comes to the McCain/Palin politics…
But what really struck me about this portion of the interview is how very "un-presidential" Palin really is. Aside from not knowing "The Bush Doctrine" she had a very "child-like" manner when she "re-phrased" an "answer". Sort of reminds me of how kids give "answers" in the form of another question. Did anyone else get that?
And from this: "Palin Clarifies God and War Remarks"

I found her trying to tie "a Lincoln speech" into her "God" comments a far stretch. It just doesn't sound real or honest…
Of course "God's plan" is also "her plan" – how very convenient.
God, I'm glad I've seen this, she was absolutely awful, completely lost. She spoke like a robot. That gives me hope she won't get in.
Here's a piece by Paul Theroux, "The Bloody Rise of the Vote Hunter":

Hi Mary – here are the lyrics to the '911 for Truth' song video. The lyrics may be a bit hard to distinguish without a few listens. Even then… This is a really sweet edited video for those who haven't watched it:
'911 For Peace’ lyrics, song by Anti-Flag
It's in the paper every day
You see it in the headlines and you feel so sick (yeah)
As another life leaves this world (this world) so full of hate (but short!)
Short on compassion
Short on humanity
Asking myself in vain, shaken by the shock,
"Do we even have a chance?"
[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human.
It's time to prove it.
This is a plea for peace (world peace)
To the oppressors of the world (and to)
To the leaders of nations, corporate profit takers,
To the every day citizen
Greed, envy, fear, hate – the competition has to stop.
When you see someone down, now's the time to pick them up
Set our differences aside and never look back (no!)
[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.
Isn't everybody tired of the fighting? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the killing? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the dying? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the hatred? (hey, hey)
Violence… (hey, hey)
fighting… (hey)
killing… (hey)
dying.. (hey)
Aaaaaah!!
[excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech:]
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow,
I still have a dream
We will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children,
Black men and white men
Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics,
Will be able to join hands and sing
"Free at last, free at last.
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
[Chorus: x2]
I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.
We are all human
It's time to prove it.
We are all human…

Hi Angus, thanks for the link to that very thoughtful and revealing article. Republican's "connect" with hunters and the NRA to win votes that's for sure. Their ideology and power continues to profit from guns, violence, diamonds, oil and blood shed. Amongst this savagery – the poor "moose" doesn't stand a chance.
There was such an uncomfortable 'air' about that room when Palin was unable to respond to this question that I actually felt uncomfortable in my apartment as I watched the interview. It was a similar feeling to when I watch a contestant on American Idol perform truly terribly: I am embarrassed for them, on their behalf, and I am unable to watch any longer.
It's interesting how this post began with the Palin/Bush Doctrine and is ending on Palin/hunting issues. Issues of killed animals, pain and anger. Just annointed: "Joe the hunter".

Her "in-your-face-dead-moose attitude" really annoys me.
…oh, it's "Jack the hunter"… whatever.
