As a side note, I think the example of the organic apple is unfortunate. While buying coffee is not necessary to one's survival and can thus be framed as an act of egotist consumption, buying an apple can easily be seen as necessary to fulfill a basic need. Perhaps buying an organic TV dinner would have been a better example.
Very interesting about healing the child with the disease but not providing a remedy as to how the disease comes to be in the first place. Reminds me of the adage (which I've altered slightly for obvious reasons): Give a man a potato and he will eat for the day. Show him how to grow it and he will eat his entire life. How "extreme" to be once again striking at the root.
