Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Turn on Thy Radio!
Professor Gary Francione will be a guest on the Bill O’Reilly Radio Factor TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29 (my dad’s 74th Birthday!). Check out which local radio station will broadcast the segment, and at what time.
Is there anyway to hear this over the net? Or is there a transcript or something? O'Reilly and Francione would be very interesting.
I'm fairly certain that his website will carry the interview (maybe not immediately). If not, I'm sure his web person, Randy, will find a way to get it or the transcript. I'll get details today.
Just seen that Gary has posted an MP3 on his website. The interview is good though the format is irritating as hell, I'm kinda glad it wasn't actually O'Reilly interviewing because he probably would have been a bit hysterical. I love that Gary describes himself as a "medieval cathar duelist" in answer to the question of if he is an aetheist. If anyone can shed light on what that is, I'd love to know because Google doesn't turn up anything useful.
Actually, Sean, I'm writing about the interview for tomorrow. Many of the Cathars (called Perfecti) didn't eat any meat or dairy or kill animals for other reasons. (Although they did eat fish.) There were others who did eat animals. They believed in 2 gods: one for good and one for evil (at least the dualists did. There were also Cathars who were gnostic.). And they did not believe in war or capital punishment. The home of Catharism was southern France. Obviously, they were considered enemies of the Catholic Church, which, um, hunted them down, tried to force them to recant, burned and massacred them.
